The age based eligibility is as follows:
- If you are under the age of 16.
- If you are under the age of 19 and are currently in full-time education.
- If you are over the age of 60.
- If you are over the age of 40 and one of your immediate relatives has been diagnosed with glaucoma.
Benefit based eligibility is as follows:
- If you receive income support.
- If you receive income based Jobseeker’s Allowance.
- If you receive income based Employment and Support Allowance.
- If you are named on or are eligible for a NHS tax credit exemption certificate.
- If you are named on a valid certificate from the NHS for full help with health costs.
Other things that may make you eligible are as follows:
- You’ve been told by a qualified eye doctor that you are at high risk of glaucoma.
- You are an on leave prisoner.
- You’re eligible for an NHS complex lens voucher.
In addition to having your eye test covered by the NHS you may be able to have a mobile eye test if you are unable to leave your home because of mental or physical disability or illness.
